cupuaçu

/kuh-poo-AH-shoo/

Native populations of the Amazon basin have eaten the fruits of the cupuaçu traditionally and the reputation of this creamy white pulp has now spread further afield. It is closely related to the cacao and the pulp is now being used to make another chocolate-like substance called cupulate. It is used in making ice creams, desserts, liqueurs and wines.
