[Spanish] plural boniatos

A sweet potato with creamy white rather than orange flesh. This is the Americas' equivalent of the yam, used a great deal in the Caribbean. Sweet potatoes are often used in making sweet puddings flavoured with cinnamon cooked and then dipped into syrup, or puréed. Sometimes called the Florida yam.
