"Cake of four quarters." This is pound cake. In the same way that pound cake is so named because the 4 oz of flour, 4 oz sugar, 4 oz butter, 4 oz eggs (2 eggs) add up to 1 lb, so this is named because there are four separate ingredients each of the same weight, 4 x 4 usually of 100 g each.
