Poppy seeds, from the seed of the opium poppy. They are improved by roasting and are used for thickening curries instead of cornflours or other starches.
Roselle. Jamaican sorrel. A 2 meter (6 ft) high plant producing peppery leaves with a flavour similar to sorrel. The small scarlet flowers are used to make jams (US: jellies) and jellies (US: jellos) or dried and used to colour foods.
Guava. A fruit with the external appearance of an apple or pear. The large, pale, yellow-skinned, pear-shaped ones are the best. They have a very strong smell.
