Knife-sharpener. In my childhood the knife-sharpener would visit with a waterbath in which was set a stone wheel attached to a treadle. He would pedal away while we brought to him the knives from the kitchen, the shears, scythes and sickles which my father used to keep at bay the encroaching undergrowth.
A fresh or slightly ripened cheese made with cow’s milk and shaped like a pumpkin or a bishop's mitre. It has a fiery, piquant paste with a slightly granular texture a thin, white mould rind. It is made on farms in Asturia. This cheese is made with raw milk. If rubbed with paprika, creating a deep orange rind, it is called Rojo del Aramo.
