A round-bottomed, wok-like pan, used for both frying and serving food, usually made from cast iron.

Safflower. A thistle-like plant which is a major producer of a high polyunsaturated, flavourless, colourless oil which is good for deep frying and in salad dressings. The flowers are reddish-orange and the styles are sometimes sold as saffron.

This actually means sauce or gravy, but has slowly been adopted by Westerners to mean a hot Indian dish flavoured with curry powder. An authentic Indian curry would be wet and complex.
