Poppy seeds, from the seed of the opium poppy. They are improved by roasting and are used for thickening curries instead of cornflours or other starches.
Vetiver. A tropical grass from which an aromatic oil is produced. In India this is used in khus water and khus syrup, which in turn are used to flavour sherbets.
