Jersey Black apple

A variety of juicy, dark red eating apple which arose in New Jersey and was recorded in 1817 under the name of Black Apple. This apple, which has an unusual, almost resinated flavour, is also used for cider-making. This late-season variety is harvested from early October in South-East England and is at its best from December to March.
